Managing a chronic condition can be exhausting. You are likely getting recommendations from your physicians, family and friends. When you search Google, you are bombarded with a variety of restrictive diets, miracle "cures", and often conflicting information.

It is time to stop the madness and stop the dieting!

We can help you get back in touch with your internal signals. We encourage you to look within yourself to discover what works best for you rather than relying on external rules and restrictions.

Intuitive Eating is an evidenced-based approach that can help you manage conditions such as chronic kidney disease, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and GI disorders - WITHOUT extreme restriction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I work with a registered dietitian?

A registered dietitian who specializes in intuitive eating can help you honor your internal cues while guiding you through complex nutrition recommendations to manage your chronic condition. Many patients resort to overly restrictive eating patterns based on the confusing and sometimes harmful nutrition information on the internet. A registered dietitian can provide you with evidence-based advice with proven results.

How many times will we meet?

A minimum of three (3) visits is recommended (an initial session plus follow-up sessions). However, ongoing nutrition counseling and education is recommended for better outcomes. We recognize that everyone has unique needs and will develop a plan customized to your individual situation.

What can I expect from nutrition counseling?

First, we will explore your current nutrition concerns and any related medical conditions. We will review your eating patterns, medications, supplements, and lab results. Our first session will conclude with answering your burning questions and setting initial dietary goals.

Follow-up sessions will focus on nutrition education, building intuitive eating skills, and developing sustainable habits to reach your goals.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we accept traditional Medicare and all Aetna insurance plans.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

Usually, yes. All Medicare plans require a referral from a physician to cover Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT). Other Aetna plans may require a referral. It is best to verify your insurance benefits prior to setting an appointment. You can use this script when speaking with your insurance company.
